January meeting minutes

Jan 16, 2012
Sorry these notes are late to everyone. We had a small, but productive meeting on January 5. Gail reported that Tucson Magnet High School's GSA is active at various times, but that her officers are all "over-involved" in activities throughout the school, so it is sometimes difficult to get them all together. Jennifer reported that Catalina Magnet High School's group is working on "positive messaging." They have received complimentary remarks from many of the staff at the school.

We were hoping to have a report from the Cienega High School GSA with the names and contact info for all the GSA's in Greater Tucson, but there was no one there representing the group. We were also hoping to have a report from Brenda about the tax credit situation at Tucson Unified, but, again, no one present to report.

Marni is still having trouble with Bank of America, so Diane volunteered to check with Tucson Federal Credit Union about a "no fee" account for our 501(c)3 account.

GLSEN Tucson Scholarship information was mailed to everyone on the distribution list. Application packets are due by April 15. Last year we had no applicants for the $500 scholarship.

Upcoming events: No Name Calling Week is January 23-27, 2012.

Day of Silence is April 20, 2012

Next meeting is at the Cooper Library, February 2, 2012 at 4:30 pm.
