Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley; LGBT Youth!

"I've been active in lesbian and gay youth groups and we are not just suffering. We're challenging the boundaries. We're challenging the way relationships are viewed. We're challenging the way sexuality is being defined. We're not apologizing. We're not hiding. We know what we deserve. We're proud of who we are; we are the groundbreakers for tomorrow..."

Excerpt from the book, "Free Your Mind" By Ellen Bass and Kate Kaufman

You’re probably really confused right now (perhaps even downright scared). Maybe you think no one in the world could possibly understand you. Or you’re the only one who has these feelings. Or you’re some kind of freak who will never live a happy, normal life. Please know that you are NOT ALONE.

The GAGV Youth Program is open to all youth ages 13-23 and provides a safe and supportive place for us to discuss issues, make friends and get support.

Our main support group meets every Sunday from 2-4pm at the GAGV Youth Center, 875 E. Main Street (entrance on Prince Street). Our other fabulous specialty groups include a transgender group, young adult group, writer's workshop, art therapy, meditation, and yoga -- to name a few!! For information on ALL our groups and days/times they meet, click the 'Events Calendar' link to the left.

I was scared out of my wits when I began to realize I was gay. But you don’t have to remain scared, nor alone. There is a whole world open to you. Enjoy it! — Ellen, age 17, Rochester, New York
