2009 Oregon GSA SummitMay 09, 2009
The Oregon GSA Summit is a one-day conference where youth will learn
about how to make their schools and communities a safer place for GLBT students and their allies. The
goals of the summit are:
* To provide a forum for high school students from gay-straight
alliances across Oregon to network, strategize, and reflect.
* To celebrate the progress and achievements made by Oregon GSAs in the
08-09 school year.
* To deliver targeted leadership development opportunities to GSA
organizers.
The 2009 Oregon GSA Summit will take place Saturday, May 9th from 9am to 7pm at Oregon State University in Corvallis. Youth from all backgrounds are encouraged to attend, especially younger students, youth of color, trans teens, and students from small towns and rural areas. While the summit is aimed at youth involved in GSA organizing, youth involved in non school-based GLBT organizing are also invited, as well as are adults currently involved in supporting a specific group of youth (i.e. school staff acting as GSA co-facilitators attending with youth from their school). Attendees do not need to identify as GLBT or be “out” in order to participate in the summit. More information about the summit, including registration forms, is available online at http://www.oregongsa.org/summit.html Forms must be postmarked or faxed in by April 24. If you have questions about the conference, please contact summit@oregongsa.org or 971-645-5193. |
