New Group in Town

There's a new group in town, and its looking for a few good young people to get it going! PerformOUT KC is Kansas City's first performance group for LGBT young people and their supportive allies age 14-20. Our mission statement is to provide a safe, inclusive atmosphere for youth of any and all identities, which fosters positive identity development through excellence in music performance and creative expression. Several other of these youth groups are growing in cities around the nation and world, including Dallas, Washington DC, and Quebec to just name a few. PerformOUT is being created to become a GALA chorus (Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses), a national group that includes Kansas City's own Heartland Mens Chorus. This is a ground-up group, so its members get to help design what we do and how we do it! Currently we are looking at meeting once a week to rehearse for outreach-based performances, and then growing from there!
