Day of Silence/Breaking the Silence

Break the Silence with EQUAL!

Apr 16, 2010
The Day of Silence is a student-led day of action where those who support making anti-LGBT bias unacceptable in schools take a day-long vow of silence to recognize and protest the discrimination and harassment - in effect, the silencing - experienced by LGBT students and their allies.

Day of Silence started thirteen years ago at the University of Virginia and continues as a project of GLSEN. Hundreds of thousands of students will work together on April 16 to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior.

EQUAL (Empowering Queer Activists and Leaders) will be celebrating the evening of April 16th! After being silent all day, join EQUAL in being really, really LOUD and having a lot of fun!
