AIDS Quilt Viewing
Students Stand as Witness to Impact of AIDS
Dec 12, 2007
As part of World AIDS Day 2007, the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center hosted panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt Names Project.
Local GSAs were given a private showing of the Quilt panels. Many high school students today never knew a world without AIDS, yet know little of the history of activism and loss surrounding the epidemic. The AIDS Quilt viewing provided a glimpse of the impact that AIDS has had on the LGBT community.

IDEAS FOR YOUR GSA
1. Commemorate World AIDS Day every December 1st in your school. Ask teachers to offer lessons on the global impact of AIDS.
2. Create a quilt of your own for any LGBT related issue. Reach out to other GSAs to do the same and coordinate a showing.
3. Find out what programs local LGBT agencies offer for students and coordinate a field trip for your GSA.
