Add A Book
Add LGBT-related resources to your school library
Jan 19, 2010
GLSEN Hudson Valley wants to ensure that all
schools are safe for LGBT people and that there are
LGBT resources available when students or staff need
them. With those goals in mind, GLSEN-Hudson Valley
is excited to offer the Add A Book program!
Inclusive curriculum and access to LGBT-related resources were found to be important protective factors for LGBT students in GLSEN’s 2007 National School Climate Survey:
•Students with inclusive curriculum and access to LGBT-related resources were less likely to be harassed or assaulted because of their sexual orientation or gender expression than those without an inclusive curriculum.
•Students with an inclusive curriculum were less likely to feel unsafe because of their sexual orientation or gender expression and were less likely to miss school because of safety concerns than students without an inclusive curriculum.
•Students with an inclusive curriculum reported a greater sense of belonging to their school community than those without an inclusive curriculum.
Download and complete the application under Related Documents on this page and we'll provide you with an LGBT-related resource of your choosing.
It is just one more way that your GSA can make your
school inclusive. Help LGBT people be reflected on
the bookshelves of your school library for years to
come!
