| Greater Cincinnati Chapter |
For StudentsWe provide a number of resources for youth in the Greater Cincinnati area:
-Youth Group is fun, safe, supportive, and confidential environment for LGBTQ youth and their allies. Adult leaders facilitate the group with engaging discussion and youth led activities. Youth Group meets every Sunday from 3 to 5pm at Mt. Auburn Presbyterian, 103 William Howard Taft Rd, Cincinnati Ohio 45219. -The GLBTQ Youth Summit is a one day summit every September that draws LGBT youth from all over the Greater Cincinnati area and beyond. With speakers and panels on topics from coming out to starting a GSA to self defence as well as engaging and productive social opportunities, a catered lunch, and a youth led "dinner-tainment", the Youth Summit works to educate and engage. Held annually every September, check the website, http://www.cincyyouthsummit.org/ for details. -Prom is our alternative to high school proms that can be less than comfortable for LGBT students. Held annually in May, Prom is open to everyone. Youth have their own dance floor with professional DJ and photographers, "mocktails" served by our volunteers and adult chaperones ensuring Prom is a safe space for all attendees. -Gay-Straight Alliances, (GSAs) or "diversity clubs" are student led, school sponsored organizations that allow students to support one another and advocate for respect in their own schools. GLSEN Greater Cincinnati supports GSAs by working with students and administrators to ensure everyone knows their rights and responsibilities, providing training for youth GSA leaders and their adult advisors, and providing materials and support for GLSEN's "Days of Action" including the Day of Silence and No Name-Calling Week. All youth programming is completely free of cost thanks to our generous donors. |
