Each Summer, GLSEN Greater Cincinnati is part of the Pride Alive parade and festival (June 12-13), the Northside Fourth of July parade, and the Harvest Home Fair Parade (September 10).

On Thursday, April 16 at 6 PM, the Community Outreach committee will have a brainstorming/planning session for these events (remember our big school bus at the Pride parade last year?). The session is at Awakenings on Hyde Park Square, 2734 Erie Avenue.

Our (every other month) "Third Thursday Socials" are a great chance to meet other GLSEN supporters and volunteers. This time we'll also be kicking off Prom season with a special raffle for discount tickets!

MLK Day Commemorative March and Power Pack-athonJan 19, 2009

GLSEN will join the MLK Day Commemorative March on Monday, January 19. In his honor, we march and plan to do service for the Freestore Foodbank.

Please meet on Fountain Square (at Fifth and Vine downtown; look for the GLSEN banner) at 11 AM. We will march to Music Hall, then return for the Power Pack-athon (assembling Power Packs: backpack-sized bags of food for schoolchildren at risk of hunger to take home on the weekend) sponsored by the Freestore Foodbank.

We are pleased to announce the creation of our new GSA Mentor program, an exciting chance to engage volunteers directly with the active diversity clubs in our community. Our Mentors will be trained and qualified, with the support of GLSEN, to deal with many of the issues clubs face in growing within schools! Each volunteer will be placed with an interested school, building a lasting and continuous relationship focused on strengthening young leaders and changing school hallways.
