What is the GSA Youth Collaborative Series?

Whether your school has had a GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) for years, has only a group of motivated students that want to make a difference, the GSA Series can be of service to you. Starting in October, GLSEN will be hosting a GSA Series that is basically a meeting for GSA leaders to gain the knowledge and practical skill set necessary for either starting or improving their GSA.

For those of you who have never had a GSA before, you might be wondering: "
What exactly does a GSA do?" Since the mission of a GSA is to advocate for a school free of bullying and harassment, a lot of the things GSA's do are GLSEN Days of Action; in addition, of course, to anything a particular GSA might want to do independently. All of these Days of Action for the remainder of this school year will be covered at the first GSA Series.

Still, for those of you who have never been involved with a GSA before, all of these Days of Action might sound great in theory, but without the proper planning for your specific school environment, and without the right people there, you might be lost. Don't worry; this GSA Series will also focus on helping students get their new-found GSA's off to a running start.
